Albany Rat Removal Tip: What To Look For When Searching For Rat Entry Holes

Rats getting into your property is a cause for concern. Rats can chew at the foundation, wires, insulation, and food around your home. They can infiltrate any location once they are inside, too.

There are plenty of steps to take when removing the rats and keeping them out, but one of the first and most important is identifying rat entry holes.

Rat entry holes are, obviously, the holes that rats use to get into your home. Through these holes, they can enter the plumbing, ventilation, wall, attic, and other areas of the home. They will begin to build nests, cause damage, spread disease, and take your food.

Finding signs of their entry holes is easy enough to do. It will take some time and effort, but anyone can manage it.

Know Where to Look

Finding tiny holes is going to be difficult if you do not know where to look. In most cases, you will have to know where to look in order to find them, as they are not going to be obvious right away. With some basic knowledge of where these entry holes typically are, you can find them more easily.

Look around the base of the property. Any holes in the foundation, where the rats are going to walk by, are potential entry points. Once inside the foundation, the rats can dig and climb their way anywhere. Fill up these holes so that the rats cannot enter the property.

Look for cracks around the house, looking closely at doors and windows. These are both places where rats can squeeze in if there is a crack that can fit them. This gives them direct access to your home and walls. Again, fill these in.

Look at open spots around the attic as well as climbing access to the roof. The roof can hold plenty of holes and cracks, all of which you want to fill in. Remove branches or anything that would make climbing to the roof easier, too.

Rat Sightings

If you see rats, or you see their droppings or chewing, start searching for holes. If you see an area with more droppings, chewed areas, or similar activity, you know that is likely where their entry point is.

Rat entry holes can be a pain to find, but you have to locate them. Rats are not something to take lightly and will cause problems for you if you do not remove their means of entry.
